Samsung at its first virtually held Galaxy Unpacked event announced many new products apart from just the star of the show that new Galaxy Note series. Samsung also unveiled a new smartwatch and its truly wireless earbuds in a completely new shape.
The new Galaxy Watch 3 comes with a physical rotating dial and has two buttons on the side to make navigation and selection easier. Samsung touts the new Galaxy Watch 3 has a thinner profile, to be precise, it is 14 percent thinner and even 15 percent lighter than the Galaxy Watch.
The Galaxy Watch 3 comes in two different sizes – 41mm and 45mm, each with Bluetooth or LTE variations. Both the models have full-color and always-on OLED displays protected with Gorilla Glass.
The Galaxy Watch 3 is made from stainless steel compared to aluminum used on its Active watch models. The company also says it worked with IWC Schaffhausen, a Swiss watchmaker, on the design of the Watch 3. The 41mm version will be available in Bronze and Silver color options, while the 45mm watch will be available in Silver and Black. The models come with their color-matched leather band and the titanium model has a matching titanium link bracelet as well.
Both the models run Samsung’s Tizen platform and are powered by Exynos 9110 Dual-Core processor clocked at 1.15Ghz. It features a new fall detection feature as well that will notify the contact that you’ve already set in case of an emergency. Samsung claims its new Galaxy Watch 3 offers long-lasting battery life.
The new watch has some enhancements around their fitness-tracking abilities. The sleep tracking feature has been enhanced with better algorithms and more precise data. Watch 3 will also gain blood oxygen (SpO2 and VO2 Max) monitoring later this year. Also, in Korea, it will be able to monitor blood pressure and electrocardiography.
The new Galaxy Watch 3 offers a hands-free Bixby assistant, Samsung Pay for mobile payments, and a speaker as well. The new watch also offers some hand gestures like clenching and unclenching the fist will help you to receive a call or rotating the wrist to mute alarms or incoming calls.
Its price starts at $399 in the US for 41mm model, whereas the 45mm model will cost starting at $429. It has three color options namely Mystic Black, Mystic Bronze, and Mystic Silver. However, the 45mm model will get the Black and Silver colors while the 41mm model will get Silver and Bronze colors
It goes on sale in select markets from today. The Galaxy Watch Titanium variant will be available later this year
Samsung has also launched its new Galaxy Buds Live in a completely different design. As evident, the new wireless earbuds are bean-shaped and Samsung touts its new ergonomic, tip-less design perfectly conforms to the shape of the ear. Samsung claims it has arranged all the components horizontally to achieve this new design.
The new Galaxy Buds Live has AKG’s sound expertise and with 12mm speaker and bass duct, it aims to deliver rich sound. It has three microphones and a Voice Pickup Unit. The Galaxy Buds Live features Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), allowing you to tune out distractions in the surroundings.
The new Galaxy Buds Live can be used as a wireless microphone when recording video via Galaxy Note 20. It comes with Game Mode that reduces audio latency. The Galaxy Buds Live has a USB Type-C port for charging, while the earbuds have 60mAh batteries each and the case has a 472mAh.
According to Samsung’s claims, the Galaxy Buds Live can offer up to 8 hours of playback. There is also fast charging, which promises 1 hour of playback with just 5 minutes of charging. The new truly wireless earbuds by Samsung are IPX2 rated for water resistance. The Galaxy Buds Live also features app-based customizations through the app on iOS and Android, touch controls, and more.
The price of the new Galaxy Buds Live is $169 and it will go on sale on August 6 in select global markets.
