Google is promising new updates for the wearables running Wear OS. Google says via its Android Developers blog post that it will now focus on fundamentals and bring more helpful experiences to Wear OS so that users could enjoy more choices.
Google promises a new OTA update coming this fall that will bring some performance improvements and better UI for more intuitive controls. Google claims to add improvements that could load apps faster. Google claims after the update the users with Wear OS wearables will experience a 20% speed improvement in start-up time for the apps.
Google also makes a mention of the advancements happening in the hardware world which it needs to support as well so as to new functionality to its version of Android designed for wearables. So, Google is adding support for the upcoming Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 4100 and 4100 Plus chipsets.
The combination of the new wearable processors and CPU Optimizations from Google’s side will offer an overall better experience for the future Wear OS devices.
Furthermore, the new UI will bring controls for managing different watch modes and workouts. Google didn’t elaborate much on the same. But, we may learn more about them as the release of the update comes nearer.
In a series of new features and improvements coming to Wear OS, Google is also promising a new weather app that will arrive “later this year.” Google claims the new change will make the weather information easier to read. It will show an hourly breakdown of today’s weather to help you plan ahead.
