Apple has officially launched Apple Watch SE, an affordable Apple Watch for the masses. It is essentially a successor to the Apple Watch Series 3 with all the essential features but with a modern design like the Apple Watch Series 6. More than that, it is the price point that will make it appealing to most users who can't afford the newest Apple Watch because of the expensive pricing.
The Apple Watch SE sports a Retina display claimed to be 30% larger than the Apple Watch Series 3. This should help with the easier reading of texts and app icons. Under the hood, it is powered by the dual-core S5 processor which is said to deliver twice the performance than the Series 3. There are newer microphones and speakers along with the Digital Crown.
There are noteworthy features like fall detection, real-time altimeter, compass, internal emergency calling, SOS, and the Noise application. The buyers will also get all the new watchOS 7 features like automatic handwash detection, new workouts, sleep tracking, new watch faces, and Family Setup.
The Apple Watch SE will cost you $279 for the GPS variant and $329 for the GPS + Cellular variant. It is available for order via Apple.com and Apple Store app starting today but as for offline stores, it will go on sale starting September 18th.
