OnePlus’ long desire to step into the smartwatch space may fulfill soon. Well, this is apparent from the teaser that the company recently shared on Twitter. Interestingly, the post was shared by OnePlus India, indicating the product is coming for the Indian consumers.
In the post, OnePlus has shared a sketch of the smartwatch with the caption “more things are coming to the OnePlus ecosystem.” This sketch actually comes from the past when OnePlus revealed that it had plans of making a smartwatch but scrapped the idea completely to focus on the matters that looked more important at that time. OnePlus quotes its own tweet it made back in 2016, which reads, “What could have been but never will be. Sketches circa 2015,” reminding its tech followers that a product the company put aside once will now come to life.
The news is delightful for its followers and the tech enthusiasts who have been following the tech industry very closely. OnePlus now has a diversified portfolio that includes, smart TVs, TWS earbuds apart from just smartphones. So, OnePlus might have thought that this is the right time to enter the smartwatch space as well.
OnePlus shared no other details but referring to the tweet that throws us back to the company’s previous plans, we can conclude a few things or, at least, expect some of them to come on board.
Sketches showed OnePlus is aiming for a round and detachable dial for its smartwatch. The dial may include a button at the bottom to release the dial from the strap. This year in August, a listing on IMDA certification also hints at an incoming OnePlus Watch. Later, tipster Max J tipped that the watch is going to have a circular dial.
Sticking to the same design that OnePlus once decided to scrape tells this smartwatch is quite dear to the company and at the same time, still viable to launch in this era. Here’s an interesting fact - the company was just around 2-year old when it decided to pull this design off.
From the company’s tweet, it appears we are not too far away from witnessing this first smartwatch from OnePlus. What are your thoughts
