The Apple Watch SE is proving to be a perfect smartwatch for those who want to own a brand-new Apple Watch but without spending a lot. It offers most of the cool features that Apple boasts of and that too for a starting price of just $279. But as per a Reddit post, the affordable smartwatch comes with a major issue that is likely to leave buyers surprised.
The thread mentions that there are six confirmed Apple Watch SE buyers in South Korea that have complained about overheating issues. These affected units have a Yellow-colored spot on the top-right corner of the display. At least one of the users experienced overheating while wearing the smartwatch that left marks on his wrist. Most of the users were affected by the issue while their watches were getting charged.
The exact root cause for the overheating is currently unknown but there is common speculation. Since the Apple Watch SE essentially has an older-generation build and design, the area above the display connector and between Digital Crown and Taptic Engine is expected to be its origin. As of now, it is unknown whether the issue affects all units or only the ones meant for the South Korean market.
Apple is yet to offer an official statement on the situation but that should happen any moment. The good news is that three of those affected Apple Watch SE users have already received a refund. They are further expected to receive a personal response from the company.
