It is well-known that one of OnePlus' goals for 2021 is to enter the wearable market. It has also confirmed working on a Wear OS smartwatch but as per a fresh report, it will not be the first wearable launch for the company. Android Central has cited insider sources to claim that the OnePlus Band will be launched ahead of the smartwatch.
The OnePlus Band will be a budget fitness tracker. It is expected to land sometime in early Q1 2021 and will compete directly with the likes of the Xiaomi Mi Band series. OnePlus is said to price the band around $40 that will place it right up against the Mi Band 5. A lot of similarities are also expected between the two bands when it comes to features and specifications.
There is tipped to be an AMOLED display panel which is something we are seeing in more and more budget fitness bands. It will have a long-lasting battery life running into multiple days. OnePlus will also offer water resistance so that it can be used during intense workouts and even for swimming.
The report adds that the OnePlus Band will make its debut in the Indian market. It is unknown when and if it will be made available in other markets around the world. This is not the first time we will see OnePlus do something like this. When it launched OnePlus smart TVs, they also debuted in India and are still exclusive to the country.
