In celebration of the Chinese New year, Apple has launched a special edition version of the AirPods Pro. The retail box and the case of the AirPods Pro feature an Ox icon, as 2021 is the Year of the Ox. The icon is engraved on them and this is the only thing that makes it look different from the standard AirPods Pro.
Apple unveiled the new AirPods Pro special edition via WeChat, “Here comes a box of blessings for the Year of the Ox,” reads the translated announcement. According to Apple, ox-themed AirPods Pro is in short supply with a total of 25,400 units available. At the time of writing, 11,480 units are sold already.
In celebration, Apple has also launched a gift guide on its website in China where it is recommending gifts that include iPhone 12 models, MagSafe accessories, Apple Watch, M1 Macs, and more.
The price of this special edition AirPods Pro in China is the same as the standard AirPods Pro - 1,999 yuan (~$310). It is available on apple.com for China. The Chinese Year will begin in February 2021.
The new special edition Apple AirPods is also available in Hong Kong for HKD 1,999. In Singapore, it costs SGD3679; in Taiwan, it is priced at TWD 7,990, and in Malaysia, it costs RM 1,099. The AirPods Pro limited edition can be purchased from Apple retail stores and official websites in the countries mentioned above.
