Last week, Apple announced a limited edition Apple Watch Black Unity collection to celebrate Black History Month. It comprises the Apple Watch Series 6 Black Unity smartwatch and Black Unity Sport Band. Both of these are now available for purchase via the official Apple website in various countries including the United States.
The new Apple Watch 6 features an aluminum case with "Black Unity" laser-etched on the backside. The Sport Band is available in a combination of Black, Green, and Red colors and is inspired by the Pan-African flag. It also has "Truth. Power. Solidarity" laser-etched on the metallic pin.
Apple has priced the limited-edition Apple Watch 6 Black Unity at $399 and $499 for the GPS and cellular model respectively. It should be noted that the smartwatch will be sold only through Black History Month i.e. until the end of February. If you are interested only in the Black Unity Sport Band, it can be purchased separately for $49. The band will be sold throughout the year so you can buy it anytime or even if you end up losing one, you can always buy another.
Here is what Apple said during the product announcement:
"Apple is introducing the Black Unity Collection, designed to celebrate and acknowledge Black history and Black culture. The collection includes a limited-edition Apple Watch Series 6, the Black Unity Sport Band, and a Unity watch face. As part of this effort, Apple is supporting six global organizations to help advance their missions in promoting and achieving equality and civil rights in the US and around the world: Black Lives Matter Support Fund via the Tides Foundation; European Network Against Racism; International Institute on Race, Equality and Human Rights; Leadership Conference Education Fund; NAACP Legal Defense and Education Fund, Inc.; and Souls Grown Deep."
