Ever since former OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei announced his new venture, there has been a lot of buzz around it. Well, first, because of the startling name of the company that is “Nothing” and second because it is being developed by a personality who has a splendid experience of running a smartphone business from scratch. So, there are so many expectations tied to the company already.
Up until now, “Nothing” has launched nothing but it did reveal what it intends to launch. Last month, Pei announced the first product from the company is going to be wireless headphones. He shared no further details but this was enough to make us more curious.
Today, Nothing has announced something, no not the product but a shred of knowledge that you may like to learn about. Nothing announced the Concept 1 and as the name would have implied to you, this is a conceptualized design which may or may not materialize but the final product will share some similarities to Concept 1. “While the same designs principles will be followed and there will be similarities to Concept 1, the end product will look different,” this is what Nothing’s spokesperson reportedly said in an email to The Verge.
Nothing is focusing on three major principles for the design of its first pair of wireless earphones - Weightless, Effortless, and Timeless. Nothing touts these three principles have guided the product design over the past several months.
According to what we were able to comprehend from the mumbo jumbo announcement, the first product may not feature any outfit, instead, it might just show off its bare skin, which is transparent. As Nothing has mentioned, “we peeled off everything superficial, like unnecessary branding on the surface to focus solely on what adds true value to the user experience.” While the announcement is full of unnecessary jargon, Nothing has seemingly managed to express the aim of the company and that is to bring “Nothing, but tech.” Products that could add value to the user experience.
Nothing further says the design should be timeless to be more appealing. But the inspiration behind the design might not be appealing, in fact, it is appalling. As Nothing expresses it, “the inspiration is taken from a grandmother’s tobacco pipe.”
Well, we look forward to gaining some more tech insights into the product next time. What do you think?
