Sony WF-1000XM4 earbuds leaked images show design changes

12 May 2021 0

A new leak has surfaced that claims to reveal the design of Sony’s upcoming truly wireless earbuds. According to The Walkman Blog that uncovered and shared the renders tell the name of the earbuds is WF-1000XM4.

As evident, the new truly wireless earbuds from Sony feature a more compact and round design compared to their predecessors. This means Sony is ditching the elongated pill-shaped design for a smaller form factor. It is also apparent that the charging pins and proximity sensor will be positioned on the underside of the earbuds.

The bundle of images also shows the case of the earbuds which looks to have been redesigned according to the form factor of the earbuds. The charging case looks slimmer than the XM3 case. The bottom of the charging case shows a 5V/140mA charging output rating which is slightly above the WF-1000XM3’s 5V/120mA rating, which means we may see faster charging speeds.

The site believes the charging case of the new WF-1000XM4 could adopt wireless charging this time around.

In addition to this, the FCC certification document has also surfaced that mentions June 9 availability date. This means the earbuds could actually launch pretty soon, maybe a day earlier than the mentioned availability date. Well, if not exactly June 8, at least, we are sure that it will launch in June 2021.
