When the reports of Xiaomi working on a new kind of wearable started swirling around, the company had to come up to clear the air. Reportedly, Xiaomi's PR executive Wang Hua took to Weibo to tell that such a product does not exist. It turned out the photo of the presentation slide is real but there is no such tangible product in reality.
As per the executive, the presentation was part of Xiaomi's internal training program which involves exercises where employees take part in. It was just another day of those exercises where employees were learning activities like how to plan, create, and promote, and so on. In this particular instance, the employee decided to create a mock product called the Mi Band X that would feature a wraparound display.

Xiaomi is said to be working on a new style of fitness band. This got apparent when an alleged presentation slide leaked out. As per the information obtained, this band will be called Mi Band X. The leaked presentation slide shows no image of the device in question, however, it does highlight some details that tell a lot about this alleged band.

The Mi Band X will feature an extremely thin and light design. It will feature a 360-degree flexible scroll screen and thus have a strap-less design. In lieu of a buckle, a magnet is used to snap the band on the wrist. From the details, the Mi Band X appears to be something similar to the Nubia Alpha smartwatch that was introduced back in 2019.
In fact, Xiaomi’s manufacturing partner Huami launched something similar in 2020. It was the Amazfit X smartwatch with a curved display and a traditional strap. But, Xiaomi is promising a strap-less design, presumably a display that will wrap around the user’s wrist. And, we believe it may come out as a transparent wraparound fitness band.
Well, Xiaomi's Mi Band X seems more like a concept and it is unlikely to see it in the near future. Nevertheless, the initial details are pretty interesting and we would like to learn more about the same.
Xiaomi has some affordable and yet good-performing fitness bands under its portfolio. And, a device like Mi Band X that seems more like a concept, for now, will cost higher than Xiaomi’s any other existing band. The details are pretty scant at the moment, but we will hear more if such a device is under development already.
