Huawei also took the veil off the Watch GT 2 Pro ECG smartwatch and Band 6 Pro alongside the P50 series. The Huawei Watch GT 2 Pro comes as a slight upgrade over the Watch GT Pro, with the main addition being ECG (electrocardiogram) readings. Also, the Band 6 Pro offers an incremental yet significant upgrade over its version.

Huawei Watch GT 2 Pro

The Huawei Watch GT 2 Pro features a 1.39-inch AMOLED touchscreen color display with a 454x454 pixels resolution. The smartwatch has a titanium alloy body and sapphire glass. It gets a power button and a navigation button as well. It comes with a microphone and speaker. It is powered by the Kylin A1 processor with 4GB onboard storage.

The Huawei Watch GT 2 Pro is 5ATM rated which means it can withstand water up to 50 meters. But, Huawei notes that the smartwatch is not suitable for certain activities that include water like diving or any deep-water activities under high-speed water flow. The battery life is rated at up to two weeks of moderate usage.

The Huawei Watch GT 2 Pro supports GPS, NFC, and Bluetooth v5.1. It includes over 100+ sports modes and can do sleep and stress monitoring as well. It is compatible with Android 5.0 and iOS 9.0 devices, but Huawei says that the ECG feature is not supported with iOS phones. It includes sensors like an accelerometer, gyroscope, geomagnetic sensor, optical heart rate sensor.

Huawei also touts its Watch GT 2 Pro is the first smartwatch that has obtained a Class II medical device registration certification from the National Medical Products Administration.

The certification has a vast significance but we are not diving into it at the moment. So, here is a brief, all medical devices sold in the US are regulated by the USA Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and these devices have to meet regulations set by FDA. The regulatory categorizes the medical devices into different classes. The classes divide the medical devices or any types of equipment on the basis of the risks involved. The higher the numbered class, the greater the regulatory control. Class II medical devices have moderate to high risk to the patient or user. A majority of medical devices fall under this category, for instance, some pregnancy test kits (reference: fda.gov, BMPmedical). Huawei’s Watch GT 2 Pro with ECG, which is also a medical device has gone through this regulatory as well and received a Class II certification.

Huawei Band 6 Pro

Huawei Band 6 Pro features a 1.47-inch AMOLED screen with full touchscreen operation. The watch case is made of reinforced polymer fiver. It is also 5ATM waterproof. Connectivity options include 2.4GHz Wi-Fi and Bluetooth v5. It can tack sleep and menstrual cycle. It also does SpO2 monitoring and helps you keep a tab on your heart health.

The battery life is rated to be up to 14 days of typical working time. It is compatible with Android 6.0/iOS 9.0 devices and later. There are 96 sports modes on the Huawei Band 6 Pro that include rope skipping, running, swimming in the pool. There are also 85 custom modes such as Tennis, Yoga, Street Dancing, and Rock Climbing.

The Huawei Band 6 Pro also supports NFC, allowing for one-touch payments.
