Apple is widely rumored to be working on an AR headset for the last few years. There have been different reports claiming different things about what we can expect. A new report from The Information claims that Apple's AR headset will rely on connection with iPhone for all the processing parts.
The report mentions that Apple is done with the custom chipset development meant for the AR headset. It is ready to begin the trial production but this particular chip is not as powerful as the ones meant for other products. In other words, one should not expect the same level of performance as we have seen in devices like iPhone, iPad, iMac, and MacBook.
It will be a chipset based on TSMC's 5nm manufacturing process. This is the best current-gen chipset manufacturing process but there is a good chance that it will be outdated by the time it releases. The development has even completed display driver and image sensor designing. The good thing about the chipset is that it is said to offer a better data transfer rate wirelessly while being power efficient at the same time.
