Facebook Ray-Ban Stories smart glasses with 5MP cameras unveiled

Facebook and EssilorLuxottica, the owner of Ray-Ban, have collaborated to develop and launch a pair of new smart glasses named Ray-Ban Stories. These are meant to allow users to capture photos and shoot video clips of what's happening around them. There are different sizes and color options to choose from so there is something to match individual preferences.

The Ray-Ban Stories feature dual 5-megapixel sensors capable of clicking still images at 2592 x 1944 pixels. In terms of video shooting, it will record videos at 1184 x 1184 pixels at 30fps. It should be noted that a single video clip cannot be more than 30 seconds long. There are two micro speakers and a three-microphone array. The smart glasses support both touch and voice controls.

The onboard storage of these smart glasses is capable of storing up to 500 photos. If you only want to store video clips, you cannot go above 30. These further feature Facebook's own digital assistant for voice commands. There is also a companion app called Facebook View for the easy sharing of captured photos and videos.

This particular app even allows importing and editing photos. It is available on both Android and iOS platforms. As for the Ray-Ban Stories, they start at $299 but the exact pricing will depend on what variant you get. These have been announced in the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Ireland, and Italy.
