UPDATE (October 4th, 2021):

The Apple Watch Series 7 is now confirmed to go on pre-orders starting October 8th. The date is set for over 50 countries including Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Japan, Mexico, Russia, South Korea, the UAE, the United Kingdom, and the United States. The sales will begin exactly one week later i.e. from October 15th.

Original (September 15th, 2021)

Together with the new iPhone 13-series, iPad, and iPad mini, Apple also took the wraps off the new Watch Series 7 at its September 15 event.

The all-new watch model from Apple has significantly more screen area and thinner borders, making it the largest display ever on the Apple Watch Series in the 45mm size variant. As Apple claims, the Watch Series 7 offers 20 percent more screen area than that of the Apple Watch Series 6.

Apple has also introduced new Contour and Modular Duo watch faces that take advantage of the curved edges of the larger screen. The Contour face takes the dial right to the edge of the display and animates throughout the day, emphasizing the current hour.

Overall, the design shows the watch has softer and more rounded corners. Apple claims the user interface has been optimized for the larger display for ease of use.

It comes in 41mm and 45mm case options with an always-on Retina display that was available on the earlier models as well.

With improvements to the display, the new watch retains the 18-hour battery life but is now complemented with fast charging that according to Apple can charge the watch 33% faster than the predecessor through Magnetic Fast Charger USB-C cable.

Apple touts the Watch Series 7 is the most durable Apple Watch ever, with a stronger, more crack-resistant front crystal. It is the first watch to have an IP6X certification for resistance to dust. It also maintains WR50 water-resistance rating.

The newest Apple Watch continues to offer an electric heart sensor, an ECG app, and a Blood Oxygen sensor. It runs on watchOS 8 and gets all the essence of it to keep users healthy and active.

Price and availability

The price of the Apple Watch Series 7 GPS is $399, whereas the GPS+Cellular option starts at $499. It gets five new aluminum case finishes along with a range of new band colors and styles.

Apple didn’t disclose the exact availability details at the stage but did say it will be available later this fall. The delay in the supply chain is believed to be the reason behind why Apple didn’t announce the exact availability detail.
