Facebook Meta smartwatch leak shows a camera with notch

29 October 2021 0

Meta, formerly known as Facebook, is rumored to be working on a smartwatch since the beginning of the year. A fresh leak has been shared by Bloomberg that gives a glimpse of the design. The alleged Meta smartwatch was obtained by an app developer from the companion app meant for Ray-Ban smart glasses.

In the first look, the alleged Meta smartwatch does look similar to the Apple Watch. The watch has a kind of square-shaped dial but with rounded corners. The most unique thing is that it has a notch for housing the camera. It is tipped to be a 1080p camera and can be used for different purposes including video calling. There will also be a rear-facing camera sensor.

The watch appears to be made out of stainless steel. It should have user-replaceable straps which is a common occurrence for modern smartwatches. It will also have LTE connectivity but unknown whether it will be an optional thing or a standard feature across all models.

Some of the previous rumors claimed that the Meta smartwatch will have a number of health and wellness features. It is said to run on Android but a custom-fork of it. There could be Wear OS as well but nothing is confirmed for the moment. The smartwatch launch is expected to happen sometime during 2023.
