The long wait for a Garmin fitness tracker is finally over as Vivosmart 5 has just gone official. It is a direct successor to the Vivosmart 4 that launched about four years ago. It is packed with features and heath sensors that you would expect from a modern fitness tracker but not much has changed in comparison with the 2018 model.
The Vivosmart 5 sports a black-and-white OLED display with 88 x 154 pixels resolution and 10.5 mm x 18.5 mm measurements. The display size is 66% bigger than the predecessor and the silicone strap also happens to be wider. The panel has touchscreen input support but Always-on Display is missing. It also has a physical button towards the bottom of the display that will be helpful for navigation purposes.
The fitness tracker is capable of 24/7 heart rate monitoring, sleep tracking, calories burned, counting steps, SpO2 tracking, and stress monitoring among others. It provides insights like sleep score and Fitness Age to help you get an idea of your sleep cycle and fitness levels. However, it does not have in-built GPS which can be disappointing for some users.
The good thing is that it has 5ATM water resistance if you wish to wear it during your swimming sessions. Garmin has claimed battery life of up to 7 days with its latest fitness tracker. The Vivosmart 5 is priced at $149.99 and color options include White, Black, and Cool Mint.
