It is about to be two years since the Apple Watch SE launched, a smartwatch that works as an affordable option for anyone who wants to try Apple Watch. There have been rumors that Apple is working on a successor to the model that will presumably be called Apple Watch SE 2. It is time for a new leak that details some of the features and specs but also corroborates the 2022 launch timeline.
The first thing reported in the leak is that the alleged Apple Watch SE 2 will have the same design as the current gen. This could be disappointing who were expecting some sort of change. The size options are also said to be unchanged and will be 40mm and 44mm. This is based on all the internal prototypes seen by the source behind the iDropNews report.
There are tipped to be noteworthy changes when it comes to features. Apple is said to be adding Always On Display to the second-gen Apple Watch SE. It is also considering bringing ECG support to the affordable model but is not set in stone yet. The chipset will get an upgrade and we will see the S7 chip that debuted with the Apple Watch Series 7.
Since Apple is considering bringing a number of noticeable changes, there are speculations of price increment. The Apple Watch SE 2 is tipped to cost $299 for the base model. This is $20 more expensive than the currently available model.
