Apple is working on at least a couple of AirPods-related hardware announcements for the year. It is reported that we may see the all-new AirPods Pro 2 and some new color options for the AirPods Max. The report is coming from Mark Gurman of Bloomberg who shared details in the latest edition of his weekly newsletter Power On.
The AirPods Pro 2 will be a successor to the original AirPods Pro which debuted in 2019. It means the buds will be three-year-old this year and are overdue for an upgrade. The battery life of buds for early adopters is already at the end of its lifecycle which means those users will either look to upgrade or replace.
There are speculations that we will see a design change and also support for lossless music. This will allow Apple Music users to enjoy lossless tracks directly through these truly wireless earbuds. Some reports have even claimed health tracking sensors that will enable certain health features. However, the exact nature of these health features and how they would work have not been mentioned yet.
As for the AirPods Max, these were released in five colors Silver, Space Gray, Sky blue, Pink, and Green. The users have an option to choose the one which suits their style the best. Apple is now reported to offer even more color options as part of a mid-cycle refresh of the headphones. The exact new colors are unknown but Gurman is also expecting an AirPods Max price drop.
