Amazfit has launched a new rugged smartwatch T-Rex 2. As the name suggests, this is a second-generation offering and succeeds the original T-Rex. It is packed with features that make it a perfect "outdoor smartwatch". It has a brighter display and a bigger battery than the previous offering.
The Amazfit T-Rex 2 sports a 1.39-inch AMOLED display with brightness claimed to be good enough for outdoor usage. The smartwatch is claimed to have passed 15 military-grade tests and received the MIL-STD-810G certification. It means the watch should be a lot more durable and sturdier than any other standard smartwatch. It should not be an issue using it under harsh conditions like hot, cold, humidity, and salt spray.
You can obviously take it for swimming sessions as it is water resistant up to 10 ATM. It has all the commonly expected sensors like a heart-rate monitor, SpO2, and VO2 Max. There is a 500mAh battery to keep the lights on and is claimed to last for up to 45 days under optimal usage. It is said to last for about 24 days under typical usage. It is further said to be for about 26 hours on a single charge under the worst scenario.
Amazfit has priced the T-Rex 2 at $229 and EUR 229 in the United States and Europe respectively. It can be paired with both Android and iOS devices. The smartwatch is already up for purchase in the US but if you are from Europe, you will have to wait until June 1st.
