If you are someone who is into running watches, Garmin has a bunch of new wearable options for you to choose from. It has debuted the Forerunner 255 series and Forerunner 955 Solar. The series features four different models which are available in two size options. These are affordable offerings as compared to the Solar smartwatch.

Garmin Forerunner 255 Series

The four models in the series are called Forerunner 255, Forerunner 255 Music, Forerunner 255S, and Forerunner 255S Music. The first two models are available in 46mm size and offer a 1.3-inch display. The standard model comes with 4GB storage but the Music model has more. The exact storage space is unknown but it is claimed to be capable of storing up to 500 songs locally.

The good thing is that it supports pairing Bluetooth earphones. It means you can listen to songs directly from your smartwatch and do not have to carry the smartphone all the time. If we talk about the 255S models, these offer a similar set of features but within a smaller footprint. The case size is 41mm and the display measures 1.1-inches.

The Forerunner 255 series is said to last for up to 14 days via smartwatch mode and up to 30 hours via GPS mode. There is multi-band GPS support for more accurate tracking. The team has added a new race widget that will show a wide variety of information like race prep details, race-day weather, countdown clock, and even performance predictions. The smartwatch has all those sensors that you would expect including NFC for Garmin Pay. The latter is something that was missing on the Forerunner 245.

Garmin has priced the Forerunner 255 and 255S at $349.99 but if you want the Forerunner 255 Music/255S Music, you will need to shell out $50 extra. These are available in different color options too.

Garmin Forerunner 955 Solar

As the name suggests, the Forerunner 955 Solar is a smartwatch with solar charging support. This is the first-ever Garmin running smartwatch with the functionality. It is claimed to last for about 20 days on a single charge and up to 49 hours if you use it in GPS mode. It features Power Glass solar charging lens for utilizing the solar charging functionality.

The smartwatch has a touchscreen display with Always On Display and is available in 47mm size. It further has five physical buttons on the side that gives you another way of interacting with the watch. It has all those features which we talked about in the 255 series. The Forerunner 955 Solar is priced at $599.99 but if you do not need the solar charging feature, you can get the non-Solar variant for $499.99.
