Xiaomi is one of those companies which constantly tries its hands at new tech innovations, even when they are far from becoming a mainstream thing. In the same direction, it has now launched the Mijia Glasses Camera smart glass in China. It is essentially a smart glass device with support for cameras and other features.
The Mijia Glasses Camera features dual cameras including a 50-megapixel sensor and an 8-megapixel telescopic telephoto sensor with OIS. The secondary sensor comes with an f/3.4 aperture and offers 5x optical zoom and 15x digital zoom. It is capable of shooting 100 minutes of video footage continuously. The glasses are said to weigh about 100 grams.
There is a Sony micro-OLED display with 1500 nits of peak brightness. The panel delivers 1800 nits of brightness to each eye and a pixel density of 3281 pixels per inch. The glass features 3GB of RAM and 32GB of onboard storage. It is powered by a custom Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 chipset that should deliver good performance.
Its connectivity options include Bluetooth 5.0 and dual-band WiFi. There is a 1,020mAh battery to keep the lights on but the good thing is it is claimed to get 80% charge within half an hour. The Miji Glasses Camera is priced at CNY 2,499 as part of the introductory crowdfunding pricing. It will be available for CNY 2,699 as and when it will actually go on sale in China. It seems unlikely that we will get to see it outside China anytime soon.
