Samsung has released its newest wearables Galaxy Watch 5 and Galaxy Watch 5 Pro. The latter is a model that we are seeing for the first time. It is a premium offering aimed at outdoor enthusiasts. The company has focused on improving battery life as it was one of the common complaints from Galaxy Watch 4 users.
The Galaxy Watch 5 is available in 40mm and 44mm size options but the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro has a single 45mm size. It means there are a total of three options to choose from. The 40mm variant has a 1.2-inch Super AMOLED display with 396 x 396 pixels resolution and Full Color Always On Display. On the 44m variant and the Pro model, you will get a 1.4-inch Super AMOLED display with 450 x 450 pixels resolution. It should be noted that none of these models have a physical rotating bezel.
Under the hood, Samsung has opted for the dual-core Exynos W920 processor coupled with 1.5GB RAM. There is 16GB of onboard storage for you to install your favorite apps and music. The BioActive Sensor is here which is essentially a 3-in-1 chip featuring optical heart rate, electric heart signal, and Bioelectrical impedance analysis.
The 40mm and 44mm variants are packed with 284mAh and 410mAh batteries respectively. The Pro model comes with an even bigger battery at 590mAh. All three models will boot One UI Watch 4.5 based on Wear OS powered by Samsung (Wear OS 3.5). Other features include fast charging, Bluetooth 5.2, WiFi, LTE, GPS, NFC, IP68 rating, and MIL-STD-810G certification.
