Apple has finally upgraded the three-year-old AirPods Pro with the release of the second-gen AirPods Pro. The new pair of buds come with a similar design as the predecessor. It means users will get in-ear silicone tips and stems. There are a few improvements that make it worth the upgrade if you have been using the previous one for quite some time.
The biggest change is that the new AirPods Pro is powered by the H2 chipset. It is claimed to deliver twice as much noise reduction as the previous generation. It will further offer a richer bass, crystal-clear sound, and an "exceptional" acoustic experience. The buds come with a new XS size tip so that more people can use them without compromising on comfort
The AirPods Pro 2 comes with Personalized Spatial Audio, an improved version of the existing tech. It essentially delivers a Spatial Audio experience based on the shape and size of the user's head and ears. The personal profile will be created using the iPhone's TrueDepth camera. The feature will be available for all sorts of audio content through iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple TV.
Apple has also added support for touch controls for performing actions quickly and without taking out the iPhone. The controls are available for playback control like play/pause, answering phone calls, and triggering Siri. The AirPods Pro has improved battery life and is now claimed to last for an additional 1.5 hours than the predecessor. The charging case will help users get up to 30 hours of usage on a single charge.
The new AirPods Pro will cost $249 and are now up for pre-orders. These are available in the single White color and open sales will begin on September 23rd.
