Microsoft is going to organize its Future Decode event in London later this month where its Hardware Chief Panos Panay is going to deliver the keynote. It was widely expected that the Panay will release the Surface Pro LTE version on the day which will be available on shelves December 1. But it seems that Microsoft has pushed the date for the availability of the LTE version.
According to the Microsoft Store official page for Surface Pro, the LTE version of the device will be available Spring 2018. The company quietly updated the FAQ section of the device page with the following:
The new Surface Pro with LTE will be made avaiable for purchase at retail Spring 2018. We're excited to bring you a Surface Pro that is now faster, lighter, quieter, and more connected than ever.
Microsoft hasn't confirmed the official specs, but the alleged ones look quite good. Surface Pro LTE will be available in two different models, one with Intel Core i5, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD and the other one with Intel Core i5, 4GB RAM, 128GB SSD. During a session at Ignite conference, Surface engineering team revealed more details about this upcoming LTE version of Surface Pro. The LTE version of Surface Pro will be based on Qualcomm X16 Gigabit Class LTE modem supporting up to 450 mbps and will offer almost same battery life as the current WiFi model.
