It goes without saying that PDF is one of the most commonly used file formats around the globe. It is used to share all sorts of documents, no matter if they are public or confidential ones. And if you are someone who has to work on PDF files more often than not, you must have encountered files which are just large in size.

This is the reason you must be looking for a way to compress PDF files with ease and have found this article. So without any further delay, let's get started with this tutorial where we will tell you how you can compress PDF files on Windows with ease.

The first step is to download and install a tool named 4dots Free PDF Compress on your Windows PC. It is compatible with Windows 7, 8.1, and the latest Windows 10. It means unless you are living under a rock, it is likely to work on your Windows machine. While the tool is free to install and use, it does come with additional software packages which would get installed on your machine if you did not de-select them during the installation process. To keep it simple, don't click "Next" on every step of installation in a hurry. Just read what's on the screen and you would be good.

Once if you have installed the software, double-click on the same to launch it. It will give you an interface as shown in the screenshot below. Click on Add File(s) button to browse your Windows PC's drive and select the PDF file you want to compress. You can even select multiple files at once. At the bottom, you can see that there is an option called Output Folder which you can use to select the location where you would like to save the compressed file.

Once you have selected files and customized the output file location, click the Compress button to start the compression process. It will take some time depending on the number of files and individual file size. When the compressed file is saved, it will show you pop-up mentioning details like original file size and compressed file size.

This way, you can compress PDF files on your Windows PC with ease. If you have any doubts or questions, feel free to ask them in the comments section below.
