ASUS announces a new 2 in 1 Transformer pc, looks quite similar to Microsoft’s Surface

ASUS just announced a new 2 in 1 Transformer PC during their 2016 Computex event. During the event company unveiled a number of new products including a flagship Zenfone 3, a new home robot Zenbo, a gaming laptop ZenBook3 and last but not the least Transformer tablet which even though have quite a few similarities like Microsoft’s Surface.

The new product feature kickstands and portable keyboards which surely reminds the user of Microsoft's Surface. There are three products announced under Transformer lineup. One is the top of the line the Transformer 3 Pro, the second one is the mid-ranger the Transformer 3 and the low-end model is the Mini Transformer 3. All three variants run on the latest Windows 10 OS.

Both the Transformer 3 and Transformer 3 Pro feature a 12.6 inches display with screen resolution of 2880 x 1920 pixels and 275 Ppi. Other key features which are similar in both devices are the USB Type-C port, USB 3.0, Thunderbolt 3 connections, HDMI ports and the Harmon Kardon speakers. Not just that company also included the built-in fingerprint scanner in both devices.

Other Asus accessories universal Dock, Asus pen and Audio pod are also compatible with both the latest 2 in 1 models. Both the devices will be available in two color variants Glacier Gray and Icicle Gold.

As being a pro variant Transformer 3 Pro is little thicker at 8.35mm, Thanks to its stepless hinge kickstand, users will be able to set up view angle of 170 degrees. Not just that, the device also features a covering Keyboard of laptop-grade 1.4mm key travel as well. This Keyboard will provide users the similar experience like a normal notebook. It is available in Amber, Stone, Taupe and Charcoal color options. The Intel’s i7 processor powers the device with 16GB RAM and 1TB internal memory. The device also features rear facing camera of 13MP alongside a front-facing camera.

Now the medium device amongst the three, Transformer 3 is also features same display like its Pro variant but this variant is slightly lighter and thinner than Transformer Pro 3. The device is 6.9mm thick and it weighs 695 grams only.

The Transformer 3 is been powered by Intel’s 7th gen Soc with 8GB RAM and internal memory of 512GB. The display stand of this variant is not as flexible as Pro variant and it offers only two positions. The keyboard of Transformer 3 is Sleeve Keyboard which provides 1.4mm of key travel and it is available in Amber, Stone, Taupe and Charcoal colors.

Its display stand is not quite as flexible, with only two positions. It ships with a Transformer Sleeve Keyboard, also with 1.4mm of key travel and is available in the same four colors as the Cover Keyboard (Stone, Charcoal, Taupe, and Amber).

Well, if you feel like these tabs are much bigger than your need or choice than Asus also offers the Transformer Mini variant. The display size of Mini variant is 10.1 inches and it is 8.2mm thick. The mini variant weighs 530 grams without a keyboard and with the keyboard it weighs 790 grams. Like the top of line Pro variant, it also features stepless smart hinge design which provides users viewing angle up to 170 degrees.

The keyboard of Mini variant is of 1.5mm key travel but it has a special palm rest integrated into it. The Mini Transformer Tab and its keyboard will be available in Pearl White, Quartz Gray, Mint Green, Icicle Gold and Amber color options. As far as the price tag is a concern, the ASUS top of the line Transformer3 Pro variant will be available for $999 whereas the mid-ranger variant will be available for $799. The final release date is yet in the dark and we will update you once we have more details.
