Portable Solutions is a little-known company in the tech industry. Not known much for its products or any service, it is suddenly in the news. And it’s for the reason that it is developing a tiny game console, which makes use of Windows 10 platform so it can run standard desktop games. The new console is already live as Kickstarter project. The company is expecting the shipping to get underway from March next year.
There will be, in fact, a couple of versions of the company’s PGS console, which will be via the MSPU. And both versions will come with a design which won’t be different from Nintendo DS. It will come with dual screen and a couple of analog sticks. This is apart from having the D-pad buttons to the left hand side, and on the opposite, are the standard console buttons. On the top, you will find the trigger buttons.
Both these versions will have 2.56GHz Intel Atom “Cherry Trail” x7-Z8750 processor. Another interesting thing is that there are two booting options. As already mentioned about the Windows 10, there will also be the Android 6.0 Marshmallow option.
The PGS Lite edition will come in 5.5-inch, while the PGS Hardcore edition will have a slightly bigger screen at 5.7-inch. The former edition has a display resolution of 1280 x 710 pixels, while the latter will come with a higher resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. The Lite version will have 4GB RAM and 64GB storage, while the Hardcore edition will come in a combination of 8GB RAM and 128GB storage.
According to the claim made by the company, its console will be capable of playing a major number of desktop games in low graphics levels and that too at HD resolution, with the speed from 25fps to 30 fps. As of now, we are just putting the info across as there’s no official way for confirmation. The only way out is to wait for the console to be released so it can then be tested out.
As far as the Kickstarter campaign is concerned, Portable Solutions has crossed the goal of raising $100,000 in 27 days. The company wants the people to pledge at least $230 for the LGS Lite model through the Early Bird price. PGS Hardcore version will be a tad costly at $280.
