The advertising network AdDuplex latest report regarding the Windows Phones indicates the share of Windows mobile OS. In this latest report company’s main focus is US market because the overall global market is not quite overwhelming for Windows mobile eco-system.
According to AdDuplex reports, the Windows 10 growth remains static around the globe and the US market is not an exception. The Windows 10 was released almost 8 months ago and still only 15% of entire Windows mobile users in the US are on Windows 10 and nearly 80% are still preferring Windows 8.1.
This shows Windows owners are not willing to upgrade the latest Windows 10 mobile OS. Although many Windows 8.1 smartphone owners can upgrade to the latest OS but Microsoft didn’t do much to lure customers to upgrade to latest Windows 10 Mobile. It is still unclear why Microsoft is not paying much interest so that customers can upgrade to the latest version of Windows Mobile OS. The AdDuplex mentioned, "this presents a major obstacle in UWP [Universal Windows Platform] adoption for mobile-first Windows apps".
The most popular Windows 10 Mobile device amongst the US customers is Lumia 640 which was up for sale at just $26.99 without 2 years contract. The second position is attained by company’s flagship Lumia 950. The Lumia 950 has carrier support but its larger variant 950XL doesn’t have carrier support that’s why it is in the fourth position in the list lacking behind the Lumia 650.
The fifth position is attained by a non-Lumia smartphone manufactured by Alcatel. Yes, you guess it right, the Alcatel OneTouch Fierce XL is in this position, and it was exclusively available via T-Mobile. The first five smartphones are having 70% share of entire Windows 10 Mobile devices available in the market.
At the moment in the US, Lumia950 share is 19.3% of entire Windows 10 Mobile users and the second position is gained by Lumia 635. Two more old Windows smartphones are in top 10 including the Lumia 920 and Lumia 521.
The Lumia smartphones Windows 10 share is still on top with a large pie of 90%, whereas the Alcatel smartphones are in second place with 6.2% share and 3.4% share is of HTC’s manufactured Windows smartphones.

Like most other users, I am also on Windows 8.1. As a matter of fact, I had upgraded to Windows 10 when it was offered as a free upgrade, but reverted to 8.1 again.
Are you talking about the desktop version? Here, the figures are being spoken of for Windows mobile.
I really don't know what EXACTLY you wanted to refer to. But yeah, I am on Windows 8.1 at the moment.
Windows 10 has been one of the most ambitious OSes from Microsoft. And as they aren't going for a new version anymore, whatever the updates are, will be only for the Windows 10.
15% of users are on Windows 10 at the moment. And this is really a very dull figure. I would have easily expected more out of this Windows OS, at least.
