Dell unveils 2-in-1 tab Latitude 5285 at CES 2017

CES 2017 started with a bang as companies are now announcing their best products lineup. As we all know, 2-in-1 devices are not new all and there are several numbers of options available in the market. However, for those buyers who are Dell fans and are keen to have a 2-in-1 device from Dell, the CES 2017 brings them a good news as the company unveils their latest Dell Latitude 5285 a 2-in-1 device. As the device is a member of latitude series which clearly indicates this device will be targeting business customers.

The device is unveiled with a number of features for business users as it has the fingerprint scanner, smartcard reader and a number of others security-related softwares which are optional for buyers. All these softwares enhances the device overall security aspects.

As far as hardware is a concern, it is featuring a 12.3-inch display with full HD screen resolution. The latest Intel’s 7th gen processor is powering the device whereas the Intel HD Graphics 620 is on board as GPU. As far internal storage is a concern, the device has 256GB SSD for the base variant whereas the top of the line variant has 1TB.

As OS, it is pre-installed with latest Windows 10. The owners can also attach optional keyboard accessory. The Latitude 5285 will be available for purchase from Feb 28th at $899. It is featuring the same core i processor which is powering Surface Pro 4 as well. The detachable keyboard cover is a peripheral and Dell is going to sell it separately. At the moment, the price tag of keyboard cover is unknown. We will be sharing more details regarding the device, Stay tuned.

To me, the pricing is a bit confusing. $899 is alright. But for which variant is that. I mean there are two - the base variant and the top variant. So, it's hard to guess the variant for pricing.

Yeah, same confusion for me too. If the pricing is for the top variant, it might be okay due to the 1TB storage capacity. But if it's for the base variant, then the device will be really very costly.

Looks like this is one of the best tabs for business customers around today. Two good things - the 12.3-inch HD screen, fit for a tablet and secondly, it comes packed with 7th gen of Intel processors. So, this is a great combination for such a device, especially a tab.
