Speaking at the World Internet Conference in Wuzhen, Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun not only talked about Artificial Intelligence but also the success of the company’s custom ROM, MIUI. It’s one of the most popular custom ROMs or Android lovers due to its eye-catching UI, highly customized themes and tons o handy useful features.
Jun revealed at the event that there are now over 300 million active users globally. This is a direct 100M increase of users since May 2016. Currently, Xiaomi users are using the latest version of the MIUI 9 that offers many new features, enhancements, and good overall stability.
Xiaomi has also shared the journey of MIUI, for instance, from where it started and when it gained an appreciation and a huge user base.
Starting from August 16th, 2010, the company started with 100 users and gained 1M users by December 2011. In July, this year, the MIUI gained around 280M active users and now in just 6 months, the custom ROM of the company has reached 300M active users. This is indeed a great milestone for the company.
Xiaomi is moving ahead at a consistent pace. The Chinese company has been rolling out new smartphones for a lesser price. Not only in China, but the success numbers can also be seen in India. As per the latest Quarterly Smartphone report by IDC for the Q3, Xiaomi is recorded as the number one smartphone brand in India.
At the same event, Jun also revealed that 238M Xiaomi smartphones are powered by Snapdragon processors. One of the announcements made by Jun also revealed that the next flagship smartphone will be powered by the Snapdragon 845 processor, though it isn’t a surprise.
