A successor to the successful Mi Band 3 is already confirmed, thanks to Huami’s Chief Financial Officer, though he denied an imminent launch. But if the Bluetooth certification for a wearable from Xiaomi is to be believed the launch of the Mi Band 4 is near, however, again exact launch timeframe is unknown.
The wearable with model number XMSH08HM has received its Bluetooth SIG certification and the document reveals some interesting tidbits. For instance, the ‘Mi Smart Band 4 NFC’ design name listed on the Bluetooth Launch Studio website simply alludes the upcoming fitness tracker will be available with NFC support in certain markets. Note that the current Mi Band 3 also comes in NFC-enabled variants.
The Bluetooth certification also confirms the support for the Bluetooth 5.0 Low Energy standard. For comparison, the current fitness tracker supports the Bluetooth 4.2 Low Energy. The certification puts no other details into the limelight but Huami’s David Cui said the Mi Band 4 will offer some new features. While it’s obvious that the next fitness tracker will include some new functionality as well, it’s unknown exactly what they could be.
Rumors say the Mi Band 4 will include a larger display and improved activity tracking capabilities. Xiaomi is expected to maintain the pricing graph for its next fitness tracker as well.
