Xiaomi’s first Wear OS-powered smartwatch called the Mi Watch just went official with interesting features but the company has more similar products to offer. Lu Weibing, General Manager of Redmi brand has given a hint via his Weibo account that a Redmi Watch will soon be launched as well.
Keeping the details of the possible Redmi Wear OS watch hidden, Weibing talks about the features of the first Mi Watch and asks for the feedback. But it is interesting to note that Redmi is entering the wearables market as well. The industry which is pretty dominated by some big brands will get a new player which will bring even affordable products than its parent company Xiaomi.
You can expect the price of the Redmi Watch to be fairly lower than that of Mi Watch’s as Redmi, the sub-brand of Xiaomi focuses on more affordable products. This means we may see some interesting features getting trimmed from the Redmi Watch as well so as to maintain the overall pricing.
It is unknown how the Redmi Watch will look like but for comparison, the Mi Watch has an exactly similar appearance to the Apple Watch. We thus expect the alleged Redmi Watch to have the same design cues.
We expect the Redmi Watch to have a smaller display than the Mi Watch and the Always On Display may not land on the former as well. The physical button and a crown in the design should stay intact to navigate through and interact with the apps. The processor Snapdragon Wear 3100 4G should be the same as well, though expect a lesser sized battery. It is also possible that the Redmi Watch may lack the eSIM support for complete stand-alone usage.
Xiaomi is well-known for launching budget fitness trackers and now with the launch of affordable Mi Watch, it enters the smartwatch segment as well. The price at which the Mi Watch has been launched is $185 and we expect to see Redmi Watch coming at a lower price than this.
Stay tuned as we may hear about the Redmi Watch pretty soon.
