Redmi watch's BIS certification listing hints at an imminent launch

27 January 2020 0

Redmi watch that got confirmed by the company’s manager back in November last year may have crossed the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) recently, indicating the launch is imminent. We haven’t had heard anything about this watch but it appears now is the time.

While Lu Weibing, General Manager, addressed this prospective device as a watch, a couple of other traces reflect it to be a fitness tracker rather, which may perform some smartwatch-like functions.

A leaker on Weibo has claimed that the design and key features of the purported Redmi fitness tracker have been spotted within the Mi Fit app.

The tipster has further claimed that the band will be supporting distinct watch faces with an option to display weather updates. It would also include an alarm clock, heart rate monitoring, and the ability to play music tracks from the connected phone. The fitness tracker is said to support payments as well, through built-in NFC support. While we do not put our reliance on the shared information, believing in the features it may have brings no harm.

Redmi focuses more on affordable products, so we expect the alleged Redmi fitness tracker to have slimmed-down features. You may find a smaller display that is not going to have an Always-On display.

Coming back to the BIS listing, there is a clear mention of the smartwatch from the brand Redmi. So, it is possible that a smartwatch may launch before a fitness tracker or Redmi could launch both together, or possibly there is just one product we are looking at. Well, whatever it is, the product must get unveiled soon.
